Prince William County Chief of Staff, Community Leader, and Woodbridge native Briana Sewell is running for the 51st District in the Virginia House of Delegates.

WOODBRIDGE, VA – Today, Briana Sewell is officially announcing her candidacy for the 51st District in the Virginia House of Delegates.

“We’ve recently entered into a new era in Prince William County and our Commonwealth as a whole. I’m in this race because I want to continue to build on the important work in Richmond and be a voice for the 51st District. That means strengthening our public schools, improving resources for service members, fighting for affordable health care, investing in transportation, and working to ensure economic prosperity for all,” said Briana Sewell.

Delegate Hala Ayala stated she will not be running for re-election and has thrown her full support behind Briana in this race.

“I am proud to endorse Briana Sewell for the 51st House District,” said Hala Ayala (D-Prince William County). “I’ve watched Briana grow as a leader in this community and I know she will be a champion for the 51st District. In Richmond, she will continue to move Virginia forward and fight for working families.”

Coming from a military family, Briana’s parents instilled in her the importance of integrity and service to others. As a public servant in local and federal government, Briana has listened and responded to the concerns of the people of the 51st District for the entirety of her professional life.

“Briana was my Prince William District Director, and she fought every day for the people of Prince William County,” said Representative Gerry Connolly (D-Virginia). “I know she’ll bring that same energy, tenacity, and enthusiasm to the House of Delegates. I’m proud to support Briana for Delegate and urge everyone in the 51st District to do the same.”

Currently, Briana serves as Chief of Staff to the Prince William County Chair At-Large, Ann Wheeler. Before that, she served as Political Director and Senior Organizer for the Virginia Campaign for a Family Friendly Economy. In her role, she worked with all factions of the community to support more equitable economic policies that benefit small businesses and working families. Briana earned her Bachelor’s degree in Public Policy from the College of William and Mary and a Master’s degree in Public Administration from American University.
