On The Issues

COVID-19 Relief

As the Chief of Staff to the Chair At-Large of the Prince William Board of County Supervisors, Briana has worked closely with all levels of government to facilitate an equitable vaccine distribution process across the 51st district. She will work to secure funding at the state level to establish a Prince William Health Department to better protect and inform residents and will strive to build back better after COVID-19. Briana understands that reducing unemployment, supporting our small businesses, increasing access to healthcare, and making reliable internet more accessible for every Virginian are the keys to rebuilding our economy and community after the pandemic.

Jobs and the Economy

A prosperous small business community is vital to fostering economic growth, creating jobs, helping to give residents a better sense of place, and mitigating that after-work traffic congestion. That’s why Briana is committed to creating more good-paying jobs here in the 51st.

Briana previously worked with the Virginia Campaign for a Family Friendly Economy to garner bipartisan support for policies that benefit working families and small business owners. She worked to extend 12 weeks of paid family and medical leave for federal employees. She also supported policies like lower-cost child-care, affordable college, and job training programs. Briana knows that when working families have the support they need, the whole economy benefits, especially during this public health crisis.

Health Care

Briana believes that every Virginian has a right to accessible, high-quality, affordable health care. Briana will preserve and expand Medicaid access and ensure people with pre-existing conditions can keep their coverage. She will fight for paid family and medical leave for all and lower prescription drug costs.

Education

As a product of Prince William County Public Schools, Briana has seen firsthand its benefits and shortcomings. Prior to the pandemic, many of the schools located within the 51st District were overcrowded, and there is great inequality in resources based on one’s zip code. Briana believes every child deserves access to a high-quality public education, so she will always advocate for students and educators. As Delegate, she’ll work to raise teacher pay, reduce class sizes, increase Career and Technical Education programs, and bring down the cost of higher education.

Veterans & Military Families

As the daughter of two Air Force veterans, Briana knows the best way to honor those who served is to protect the health and well-being of our veterans and that of their families. In Congressman Connolly’s office and in her current role, Briana has helped thousands of veterans get connected to the care they need. Oftentimes life-changing situations can be resolved with a quick phone call or email. That’s why as Delegate, Briana will continue to show up for her community and run a responsive and effective constituent services operation.

Women's Rights

During her time with the Virginia Campaign for a Family Friendly Economy, Briana worked to uplift the voices of women and their families while fighting for access to reproductive health care and paid family and medical leave. Briana is committed to ensuring that every person can make their own health care decisions with their doctor, without the interference of any politician. As Delegate, Briana will prioritize access to affordable and quality child care while ensuring that providers, who are often women and women of color, are valued members of our economy. Briana will continue her fight for economic prosperity and equal rights for women in the General Assembly until it is afforded to every woman in the Commonwealth.

Environment

Briana has been a champion for the environment throughout her entire professional career, starting in Congressman Connolly’s office. During that time, she spent years working with state and local leaders to shut down the pollutant-filled coal ash pond in the neighboring town. As Delegate, Briana is committed to bringing green jobs to our Commonwealth and highlighting the economic and humanitarian benefits of environmental legislation to ensure that every citizen has access to clean and healthy living conditions.
